V Permutations

Unlike the other 20 PLLs, the V Permutation gets its own page because there are so many viable V Permutation algorithms that people use.

Yeah, just pick one and use it. They're all really good

History of the V Permutation

In the past, the V Permutation was known to be a bad PLL case, due to the entire cube rotation in the middle standard V Permutation algorithm.

R' U R' U' y R' F' R2 U' R' U R' F R F

However, as cubing hardware progressed, not only have people realized that this was less of a problem than people thought it was, other, riskier V Permutation algorithms that were not good on older speedcubers became more viable.

A combination of the old standard algorithm being initially seen as bad, with no better alternative, as well as the fact that there is no general consensus on what the best V Permutation is, now that riskier algorithms have become more viable on newer speedcubes, is why, in 2023, there are so many good V Permutations that one can choose from.

Even now, I personally don't have one specific algorithm that I use for this case. The two that I use in my speedsolves are:

R' U R' U' y R' F' R2 U' R' U R' F R F

R U' R U R' D R D' R U' D R2 U R2 D' R2
